We provide all types of services to make life at uni as convenient as possible, ensuring our students and staff get the most out of their time here.

Academic support

The Learning Centre offers a variety of free programs designed to enhance the academic performance of students at all stages of their university studies.

The Curtin Business School Communication Skills Centre also provides a free support service for all students enrolled in Curtin Business School.

English language support is available for students whose first language is not English. If you feel you can benefit from additional language support, specific language units are available.

Accommodation

We provide a comprehensive housing service to students and staff, with nearly 1,200 places available for student accommodation on or near the Bentley campus and an extensive database of private accommodation options.

Bookshops

The Curtin University Bookshop stocks a wide range of textbooks, stationery, newspapers, magazines, novels, cards, art material, computer equipment and much more.

The Student Guild operates a Second-hand Bookshop where students can buy and sell used textbooks and other study equipment including lab coats, calculators and lecture pads. Secondhand textbooks can often be purchased for considerably less than new books.

Centrelink

Curtin is the only university in Western Australia with a Centrelink office based on campus. Located in the Student Guild precinct, Centrelink is open during normal office hours and provides a full range of welfare services including Austudy and rent assistance to eligible students.

Childcare

The Curtin Childcare Centre offers part-time and full-time care to children aged six weeks to six years. The centre has a team of dedicated professionals providing the highest level of care.

Computer facilities

Access to our computer laboratories is available to students during and after university hours. Technical support is provided until 9.00pm on weekdays, and on Saturday and Sunday afternoons throughout the academic year.

Counselling

Staff and students at all Curtin campuses have access to professional psychologists and social workers who can assist with personal counselling issues such as relationships, sexuality, stress, anxiety, depression or career development, and dealing with policies and procedures.

First-Year Experience Coordinator

The First-Year Coordinator is available for one-to-one confidential chats, so get in touch if you need help of any sort, including course switching. All new students will receive information from the coordinator regularly during their first semester via an e-newsletter.

Food outlets

Choices at the Bentley campus include cafés, an halal noodle house, canteens (two of which offer halal food) and a tavern that regularly stages live music. There are 11 food outlets at the Bentley campus.

 

Health services

The Health Services Centre incorporates a doctor's surgery where students can make appointments with either a doctor or nurse. Nursing staff are available to assist in the treatment of accidents and injuries that may occur on campus.

Sport and recreation

Curtin Recreation Services provide a state of the art fitness centre as well as facilities and venues for tennis, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, squash, racquetball and group fitness classes. The Student Guild supports a number of sporting clubs and runs a host of recreational courses to keep you fit and healthy.

Student Guild

The Curtin Student Guild plays a vital role in representing the interests of students by providing educational, commercial and social services to its members. It represents all students on the major boards and committees of the University.

The Guild operates many services on campus, including cafes and cafeterias, a tavern and bistro, second-hand bookshop, Curtin Concept store and the Copy & Design Centre.

The Guild also runs Student Assist, a confidential welfare, advocacy, support and referral service to assist all students with any personal, welfare or academic issue that they may have.
