Gender equity

We have a strong history of enhancing gender equity and have gained external recognition as a university that promotes fair and equitable treatment regardless of gender.

We are engaged in the inaugural Science in the Australia Gender Equity (SAGE) pilot of theĀ Athena SWAN accreditation program, designed to encourage, recognise and advance the participation of women involved in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM).

We have zero tolerance for sexual assault and sexual harassment and are actively participating in the Respect. Now. Always. campaign.

Employer of choice for gender equity

Our gender equity initiatives have been externally recognised for over a decade, and our Vice-Chancellor, Deborah Terry, is a Workplace Gender Equality Agency Pay Equity Ambassador.

Childcare and family responsibilities

We offer a number of provisions to ensure parents are supported to engage in work and study. Childcare is available at the Curtin Perth Early Childhood Centre for children of staff and students, and we promote flexibility at work for our staff.

Cultural diversity

Curtin is a global and cultural diversity university with campuses and university partners around the world. Our community is highly diverse with around a quarter of our students coming from a country outside of Australia.

We offer a range of support and social services for all students and staff, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds:
